Protein Balls v.5

After several batches of experiments, I'm happy to share my own developed recipe of Protein Balls. Inpiered from supermarket ones, my recipe is more chocolatey, and a perfect energy boost before and after the gym.

Tools -

  • Food processor
  • Spon
  • Sandwich bag or a bowl for the coconut coating.

Ingredients

150 gr Pitted Medjool Dates
100 gr Almond meal (Approx.)
30 gr Cocoa Powder
1/2 tbsp Vanilla Extract

For coating:
2-3 sp Desiccated Coconut
or
1 sp Cocoa Powder, for a dark bitter taste (also looks cool and less fat)

Instructions:

Prepare the desiccated coconut by placing it in the sandwich bag or in a bowl/plate.

To the mixer bowl, add dates, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and only half of the almond meal and mix until it becomes a sicky past.

Use the spoon to release the mixture from the mixing bowl and add more almond meal until it reaches the consistency you like. You may need more almond meal than the base recipe, depends on the freshness of the dates and the type of vanilla extract.

Once the mixture is ready, take it out of the mixing bowl and knit it using your hand, so all the little crumbs will merge into one solid shape. Split the mass into a ball size of your liking (5-6 balls makes a nice men size serve) and roll them to smooth balls. Once you rolled a ball, place it in the sandwich bag and toss it a bit to allow the coconut pieces to stick all-around it.

You may need to take the coated balls outside the bag once coated, few balls are easier to cover.

Tip: Although no refrigeration required, I found that placing the balls in the refrigerator solidify and improves the texture.
